In the dark

When you’re in the dark
What do you think about?
Do you see colour
or black and white
Shadows moving through a canvas
that’s neither white nor green
Waves and ripples
all across the canvas
making a splash
that wakes you up from the dream.

Then you shut your eyes
trying to emulate that darkness
so you can see the colour again
feel the waves again
and be woken up
again
and again.
