actor-writer-interdisciplinary artist

I am Vinna, a London based actor and interdisciplinary artist. My ancestors crossed the sea from China to British colonial Malaya, and I am the eldest daughter born to a family of resourceful immigrants who gave me all they did not have, and allowed me the privilege to live as an artist today.

My acting training is rooted in 20th century Eastern European lineages influenced by Asian theatrical practices, but my craft is inspired by the soil under my feet, the river in my veins and the melodies that surround me.

I am a collector of sounds and impressions, transmuting them into experiences through performance, poetry and soundscapes. My art is a constant conversation with my inner world, my biases, my pains, my joys. It is the external manifestation of what I feel brave enough to share at any moment in time, or a letting live of what is no longer mine to hold. My art is my drop in the ocean, my hope, my surrender and my rebellion.

Let this bio serve as a start of our conversation.

  • "I was completely fascinated by your story, your skills and your brilliant attitude."

    Jack Lowe, Curious Directive

  • "Yet within that storm of energy, the quiet moments pack an emotional punch. Vinna Law’s story of her grandmother was so resonant and truthful, it pulled at my heart."

on “The Ideal Woman”, View from the outside

  • "...a special mention has to go to the art gallery ‘tour guide’ (Vinna Law) who occasionally gathers the crowd to discuss particular artworks hanging on the wall. Although these ‘talks’ are short, they offer up a refreshing and welcome cauldron of ill-disguised sarcasm, genuine artistry, and thinly veiled jabs directed at the higher powers responsible."

    on “Paradoxical Gasp”, everything theatre

  • As an actor, Vinna is very effective and she possesses the intelligence to play the role as needed to move the story forward.

    Kwong Loke, Actor

  • Navigating through the process of finding that final form of the performance with Vinna was a joy.

    Leon Rubin, Theatre Director
